Our Guide to Planning your Wedding Budget

We are often asked by couples how to budget and the most important things they should consider when planning their wedding at Camel Studio. And so, for this blog, we thought we would provide you with an overview. We offer two packages at Camel Studio - our Intimate Package for weddings of up to 24 and our Petite Package for weddings of up to 50 people. Below you will find an outline of costs for the additional suppliers you might want to choose for your big day.

How much your wedding costs will be dependent on the choices that you make: the style of wedding feast you would like, whether you incorporate live music; how involved you would like to get in creating the look for your wedding etc. We have a wonderful recommended supplier list which is a great starting point to help you choose the right suppliers for you.

A Registrar or Celebrant-led ceremony?

First things first you will need to think about whether you would like a legal or celebrant/humanist ceremony. Both have their merits. Perhaps you would like the opportunity to shape your ceremony exactly as you would like. If this is the case, then a celebrant/humanist-led ceremony is probably more suited to you. However, if you would like your ceremony to be legally binding then having a registrar reside over your ceremony would be the best choice.

Celebrant-led ceremony - prices from £695

Registrar fees - £682 (based on a Saturday wedding in 2024)

Catering

We always advise couples to book as many of their suppliers as soon as they book their wedding venue. This means that you will often get your first choice but also, often times the deposit that you need to pay to secure your favourite supplier is comparatively low. One of the first things to book is your caterer and this is where prices can vary widely. It is very much based on the experience of the caterer, the style, food choices and the number of courses that you would like that will determine the price. At Camel Studio, we advise couples to choose a 3-course menu, starting with canapés during the drinks reception followed by a 2-course wedding feast. We prepare freshly cooked wood-fired pizzas for your evening food, which is often followed by your cake, and so a 3-course option provides plenty of food for your guests to enjoy while ensuring they aren’t too full to enjoy some delicious pizza later in the evening!

Prices for catering typically start from £45 - £50 per head

Photographer

Booking your photographer early on is important too. Your images will last a lifetime and so securing the photographer whose photographic style suits your aesthetic and that you also gel with personally is key, especially as he/she will likely be with you for all the important parts of your day. You can read more about how to choose your photographer in our recent interview with the wonderful Katie Goff on our blog.

For half a day (recommended for intimate weddings) prices start from £1,000

For a full day, prices start from £1,600.

Flowers

At Camel Studio we have created a space where you can add as little or as much decor as you would like. The backdrop of white walls, soft drapes, and greenery sets off any colour scheme. We have chosen florists for our recommended supplier list who not only deliver beautiful floral arrangements but also who either grow their own or use sustainable suppliers. Florists will often ask you to provide them with info for your colour scheme and the overall look/vibe that you would like to achieve but don’t feel that you need to have all the answers as your florist will be able to guide you and have lots of ideas to help you create the aesthetic you would like for your big day.

For an imitate wedding (up to 24 people) florist prices usually start from £600 (this includes the bride’s bouquet, 2 bridesmaid’s bouquets, 3 buttonholes, bud vases for the table, and decoration for the arch - top and bottom).

For a petite wedding (up to 50 people) florist prices usually start from £750 (this includes the bride’s bouquet, 3 bridesmaid’s bouquets, 3 buttonholes, bud vases for the table, and decoration for the arch - top and bottom)

*Note that every florist will be able to provide a bespoke package that will suit your specific requirements.

Wedding Cake

We all LOVE a wedding cake and there are so many options to choose from both in terms of decor and flavour so you can go super simple and elegant or fun and fabulous. It’s up to you.

A single-tier naked cake start from - £95 (your florist would be able to provide flowers if you would like some decoration)

And for a double-tier cake, prices start from - £200

Hair & Makeup

At Camel Studio, we have a dedicated dressing room where the bridal party can get ready. Here you can sit in front of our vintage dressing table while your hair and makeup is being done, sipping a glass of Prosecco surrounded by your best friends and close family members. For intimate weddings and/or if the bridal party is just a few people, you could opt to have your hair and make-up done by just one person.

Bridal hair and makeup - from £195

Hair only (for the bride) - from £95

Make-up only (for the bride) - from £85

Bridesmaid hair - from £45

Bridesmaid makeup - from £50

**Please ask your chosen supplier about a hair and make-up trial and their travel rates which will be in addition to these prices quoted.

Extras you might want to consider

Videography

If your budget can stretch to this then we would really recommend incorporating a videographer into your special day. Photos are a must but a video will capture those special moments - the vows you make to each other, the speeches, and people’s reactions. Some photographers do both and generally, this will work out a bit cheaper and others will do short packages, for example, if you just wanted to film your ceremony and drinks reception. Prices for a videographer start from £500

Music

At Camel Studio we have a surround sound system in the barn and a portable stereo for outside to use during your ceremony and drinks reception. Often couples will give us a bespoke playlist for each part of their day and then choose whether they would like to play their own music during the evening or have a live band and/or DJ. Prices vary widely but for an acoustic duo or solo musician prices start from £400 or for a DJ from £600.

Outdoor Games

Our top lawn provides the perfect setting for garden and vintage games such as croquet, boules, and giant Jenga which keeps your guests entertained during the drinks reception and/or after your feast. Prices start from £15 per game, plus delivery.

Other Decor

You might want to think about adding beautiful stationery, perhaps hand-drawn menus on the table, a welcome sign, and/or a table plan. Or additional decor for your stunning tablescapes such as cheesecloth napkins and coloured table runners. Our recommended supplier list is a great starting point but we also recommend Etsy as a great place to browse.
