Photography Top Tips with Verity Westcott

Confetti

Get lots of eco-friendly confetti or if you are saying ‘I Do’ in Spring you can make your very own confetti with beautiful blooming blossom! One of the best ways to capture a confetti photo is to have your guests line up and throw confetti in two rows and for you to walk through, stopping halfway. Or if you have a small number of guests, creating a semi-circle also works amazingly!

Couples Photos

I only ever take a couple away from their guests for around 15-20 minutes, unless there is a special location you wish to visit. Taking time alone is a great way to spend quality time as newlyweds while we snap away!

I generally do couple photographs during the drinks reception, or before the wedding breakfast, but will also always try and whisk you away for a 2nd couple shoot, just when the light is perfect and golden hour is setting in.

Aisle Photos

I would always suggest that the bride walks down the aisle in front of her bridesmaids, as this always gives me the perfect opportunity for clear, wonderful shots! When walking down the aisle, take your time, walk slowly and enjoy the moment!

Getting Ready

Start your day getting ready with the people you love and who make you laugh, it’s all about you enjoying your day from start to finish! I would suggest, and this is controversial, but if there are a few bridesmaids and close family around you getting ready, let the bride be one of the first. Then you have your beautiful make-up and look flawless for all of the prep photos.

The main objective is to have fun, feel all the love, and don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s your day so do it your way!!
