Louise And Mitch's Summery Wedding

It was such a pleasure to host Louise & Mitch’s wonderful wedding! They had a stunning outside ceremony in an elegant stretch tent decorated with beautiful flower urns by Lafornia Flower Company. Their ceremony was followed by canapes and lawn games in the sunny garden and a wedding breakfast in the barn. Louise decorated the tables beautifully using rustic influences, pretty green cheese table runners, white candles and simple bud vases to create a fresh, elegant tablescape. The couple added lots of other personal touches to make their day extra special to them. We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Louise and Mitch to reminisce about their day and talked about all the elements of their day.

The Booking Process

Did you have your hearts set on a Cornwall-based wedding?
We were looking at venues in Cornwall and the Lake District as we LOVE visiting both these places. But as soon as we drove up to Camel Studio we knew this was the perfect venue for us.

When you were looking for a wedding venue what was most important to you?
We were looking for a venue with a relaxed informal vibe, and a place where we could have all of our friends and family together for the weekend in a lovely space. We had our hearts set on having an outdoor ceremony, so when we saw the view and the gorgeous lawn at Camel Studio it made up our minds. The interaction with the venue was also very important to us and all the conversations we had with Helen were great which made our decision really easy!

What were your first impressions of Camel Studio?
The outdoor space and views were just incredible and we could imagine ourselves getting married on the lawn in the beautifully open space. Camel Studio also had a homey relaxed feel, we fell in love as soon as we pulled into the drive. The accommodation and the pre-wedding supper were also a lovely touch that meant we could enjoy time with our closest friends and family. Helen also mentioned they only offer a few of weddings a year and we just knew Camel Studio would be able to offer the personal touch we were looking for.

What aspects of your wedding were most important to you?
Having an outdoor ceremony was one of the main aspects that was most important to us. We decided on a lovely stretch tent that meant we could still have an outdoor ceremony come rain or shine, though the beautiful Barn would have been just as gorgeous!

In the run-up to your wedding, what did you find most helpful?
Helen’s recommended supplier list really really helped us as we’re not local, all our suppliers were off the list! Helen was also super helpful the whole way through, and always replied to our questions straight away.

Louise & Mitch’s Wedding Day

Can you talk through your styling and the look you wanted to achieve?
We wanted a really simple yet rustic look. We had booked Dish Cornwall to do our catering as they also matched our simple and relaxed vision so knew with tapas and paella we would need lots of space on the tables so kept the tablescape nice and simple. We chatted with our florist, Ingrid from Lafonia and our coordinator Hazel and they suggested a few bud vases and table runners which looked fabulous! We opted for dusky blue, sage green and white colours to bring the outdoors in with lots of greenery which matched the barn too!

Did the ‘look and feel’ of the wedding meet your expectations?
100% more so than we ever thought. Especially in the evening, we really loved the dance floor surrounded by small round tables and the courtyard where we could sit around the fire pit and enjoy homemade pizza from owner David, melting marshmallows and catching up with our family, it really felt homely! We also loved the look of the stretch tent - it looked lovely in the photos and really added a finishing touch to the lawn. It also meant we could still get married outside in bright sunshine or rain!

Often couples are in two minds about a videographer, what made you book both?
I tear up every time I watch it, it was SO worth it! We were also in two minds before we booked Liberty Pearl but my mum said it would be a nice touch to look back and Liberty Pearl offered great packages with a highlight film so we went for it and were SO SO glad we did. You're just so busy during the day and there’s so much going on, it was so nice to look back and actually see Mitch getting ready, guests arriving and all the little touches I would have missed if we hadn’t opted for a film so we would highly recommend it!

What was the best part of your day?
There are SO many, I think the ceremony was beautiful - exactly how we wanted it to be, with flowers by Lafonia and in the stretch tent. The food was also exactly what we wanted and it was so delicious! The evening in the courtyard was also one of my favourites with the fire pit. The whole day was just THE BEST!

What would be your top tips for couples planning a wedding with us?
Use the Recommend Supplier List, it’s so helpful and has only wonderful suppliers!

If you are thinking of booking Camel Studio, just do it - you will not regret it! Helen and David will look after you and make sure you feel comfortable and they are always there when you need them! Also, don’t think too much about the small details, on the day itself they really don’t matter, there’s so much happening so keep it simple! I thought so much about little details that I totally forgot about on the day!
