Hello from Helen & Dave

As it’s our first blog post, we thought we would start by introducing ourselves! So hello! We’re Helen & David. That’s us in the picture, back on our wedding day in the summer of 2012. 

A little over three years after our big day, we decided to make the move from London to Cornwall. We didn't know how it was going to pan out, especially moving from the city to the middle of the countryside, but we knew we wanted a change of life. So on New Year’s Eve 2015, we packed our possessions into our campervan and drove eight hours to Cornwall, arriving at our beautiful rented farmhouse just in time to cheers in the new year! Suffice to say we've never looked back and feel so lucky to now call this stunning part of Cornwall home. 

We happened upon Camel Studio when we came to see the amazing saxophonist Andy Shepherd and fell in love with it. When it came up for sale, we jumped at the chance. As an events venue, it combined our respective passions for music, food and the creative arts. David is a musician and keen cook and my background is in documentary film. 

It wasn’t until some months after we had moved in when we met Jenny Wren, wedding planner extraordinaire here in the South West. And so we started to take the steps to create a venue that was fit for beautiful weddings! 

23rd May 2020 was supposed to be our first but things haven’t quite worked out as planned for everyone. But we’ve used the time to build a stunning new log cabin bridal suite, converted a horse box to serve delicious wood-fired pizza and installed a beautiful new bar in the studio. When the time is right, we’re ready and cannot wait to help all our couples have the most magical wedding here at Camel Studio.
